Wall Painting Techniques

Are your walls looking simple and plain? Do you dream about a cozy room always? Consider interesting wall painting techniques, such as sponging, ragging, stenciling or stamping? You actually do not need any kind of experience to do it yourself economically and make your room look grand with any of the following quick decorative wall painting methods.

Even before you could start painting, choose a color scheme for the walls. When you chose your paint, remember that many painting techniques use two shades of one color. If the one you are choosing uses two shades as well, pick your base color darker than usual, as your top coat which is a lighter color will make your base coat light as well.

To sponge or rag a wall, paint on your base color and let it dry thoroughly. After that, wet your sponge or rag with the lighter shade and sponge or drag it over the base coat until you are contended. You have keep going this way until it’s done fully.

If you are thinking about using a more advanced decorative painting technique such as stenciling or stamping, you might just need to give a wall paper effect usingstamping or stenciling a simple design over your base coat. Also if you wish to go further with this and use stencils or stamps to create a faux brick or stone wall follow few simple steps. First, coat your walls with the color of your pick for the mortar between the bricks or stones. Once the base coat is dry, stamp or stencil your bricks or stones over the base coat. Once the brick or stonework is dry, spatter a bit of the darker color over your faux art to give it depth and make it appear more realistic.Making faux effects like making your walls look like it’s made off plaster or suede makes the room unique from the others. Some paint bases give the look of suede or textured effect naturally, which a method even artists use these days.
