Being chucked out of the the Solar Trade Association. Some nasty people, some nice. STA must stop boycotting innovation. We had submitted nine “clean-up” motions to the AGM but they were “not interested”. Eventually a colleague was allowed to speak. It turned out that he was given 3 token minutes to address them all. Chaotic tradebody fails to end clear green solar thermal innovation boycott, bringing UK’s solar thermal industry into disrepute.

3D map shines light on New York solar potential

July 6 – A new, three-dimensional map with a bird’s eye view of New York City is showing residents the solar energy potential of their city, the largest in the United States. The map’s creators have set out to demonstrate that solar power is more than just an abstract idea. Tara Cleary reports.

Solar Energy Advocate Hermann Scheer – Part 1 – Democracy NOW!

Democracy NOW! – DN! – Hermann Scheer, 1944-2010, one of the world’s leading advocates for solar power, has died at the age of 66. The German economist and politician helped make Germany a renewable energy powerhouse and inspired many across the world to expand the use of solar power. Scheer had been member of the German parliament for three decades and was the president of Eurosolar–the European Association for Renewable Energy. In 1999 he won the Right Livelihood Award for his “indefatigable work for the promotion of solar energy worldwide.” When he received the award he described solar energy as the energy of the people. We met up with Herman Scheer last month in Bonn, Germany for what turned out to be one of his final interviews. Push for Solar at White House Heats Up

Students and professors from Unity College in Maine arrive in Washington, DC with Carter-era solar panels in tow. The group hopes to get the government motivated to set an example using more solar power by re-installing these panels on the White House.
