Why Solar Panels?

Our planet has a vast amount of energy . Some good examples of the many are how we capture wind in wind turbines, mine coal and burn it, create dams to contain water, and even mine uranium and create nuclear power plants. Another energy source that we have recently learnt to tap into is the sun .  It emits so much energy that if we were able to capture all the energy in one single day it could power the Earth for a year. Sadly we haven’t made any practical use of it for all the centuries that have gone by .  Better late than never holds true for a situation like this; because, people won’t say it, but it was almost becoming way too late.

It is the solar panels we are asking the question about which contain the magical process which captures the sun’s energy and converts it into electricity . Sure does seem magical, doesn’t it ?

Light will hit the silicon surface of these panels, sending a current through the wires attached . Then it goes to a converter which takes the direct current and transforms it into the usable alternating current .

Back to the topic of why solar panels, they generate free electricity from the sun, helping us save a significant amount of cash year after year. It is common for households that utilize solar panels to slash up to 80% of their electricity bills .  It’s not 100 percent due to the fact solar panels only function when the sun is present, therefore at night it cannot save you money.  Still it is possible to live completely off the grid with solar panels. How ? Most wonderfully batteries can be implemented into the panels so that during the day they are charged up and a night are used to power the house.

Another reason as to why solar panels should be used is that they generate electricity without polluting our environment .  Still a large number of power stations use coal to generate electricity, something that greatly damages the environment. Overall its a great deal – you will help the environment as well kind of be like a catalyst for other people to follow in your footsteps.

The cost of solar panels in the market is expensive and are sure to convince people that they are not the way to go .   It’s still a very new product, not really commercial yet, so in order for companies to make money the price has to be high.  The good thing about solar panels in there a one time investment; once you pay that first fee you have it installed for decades and it will always reduce your electricity bill .

The great thing, if you truly can’t afford it, is that you can build your own solar panels . And you certainly don’t have to be Einstein to do so .
