WIND ENERGY NSM 21 (PROTOTYPE 1)
This project is based on regular wind energy turbines in combination with the magnus effect. The real trial prototypes are still in construction. No external energy is given to this turbine. A worldwide patent application is now in progress. Everyone who is related in this field is invited to share your thoughts and ideas with us. For more informations click www.mehmetoglu.com
Enclose the cylinders in a vacuum with the base of the shaft in a planetary gear arrangment
I haven’t thought about it too much but it looks like the overall effect of the cylinders is drag. On the front side the cylinders are creating a horizantal force forward. On the backside they’re pulling back. It balances out. Replace the cylinders with props and you harness more force to spin the turbine. As far as I can tell the cylinders and their spinning motion are a total waste of time and they will cost you energy. Of course I don’t know everything. Maybe you know something I don’t.
Stick to the K.I.S.S. principal:Keep it simple,stupid.
The spinning cylinders utilize the Magnus Effect maybe?
These eye sores are going to pollute the landscapes of the world; killing birds, exploding in high winds leaving a huge carbon footprint.
Nuclear power is cleaner, more efficient, and the future solution to the energy crisis.
smarter then coal i guess…
anything is more efficient then a combustion reaction.
if wind or solar power works so well then why hasnt it taken over the oil biz? because the biz math doesnt add up, its too costly! do the math. price, maintance and the fact it has a very short life do not out weight the pace this investment loses value and it doesnt make money. if it did they wouldnt need so much help from the gov and supported by kooks. if it worked they would be on every house but they dont….
All that’s missing on this one are three coloured spheres extending vertically from the mast and bobbing up and down at varying heights. Whistles could also be attached to the blades for added absurdity.
is this digital?
…and in only three days you can have fresh ground coffee.
this would only work in highly windy places due to the added weight
spinning cylinders are extra drag and wasted energy.
Yes, these three are supposed to use the Magnus Effect. Ericdebord, there’s the clincher: “Doesn’t make money”. If it’s helpful, and efficient, and useful…but it doesn’t make a profit…the thinking is, what good is it?
Because oil companies buy ideas and patents and put them away for good. Why would you care if you were 65 years old and a millionaire? You have no need to worry about the planet in the next 25 years or so, so screw it, gouge the economy now. Go look up Stan Meyer, VERY interesting. I worked for a guy who’s brother in law created a never ending oil filter – you never needed to change your oil again, the filter kept it clean. Oil bought the idea, and the guy got rich. Where is it now?
Turbines and panels pay for themselves after a given time, whereas oil and other resources as such are diminished. While nuclear and oil facilities make energy for a bit cheaper, these make for cleaner/more breathable air with less pollution. That, and if one of these breaks down, Chernobyl doesn’t happen.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not into Priuses or composting or anything, but this would be far more beneficial after a few years.
I know I *LOVE* incidents like Chernobyl.
I don’t like these turbines, but the other kinds are nice.
Why won’t it make money if it’s more efficient than existing models? Is it much more expensive to make?
What I mean by that is that it doesn’t make oodles and oodles of profit like, say, oil and gas. But I can also see it not taking off due to NIMBYism – NIMBY (“Not In My Back Yard”) is the term for the syndrome of people loving these great ideas…as long as they’re not nearby. With wind turbines, it means “I hope we build more of these…but not where they destroy my view”. And as there are NIMBY types everywhere, there are few places to build where a few locals don’t throw a fit.
Sorry what is better about this than a regular turbine?
No external energy my arse
razor blades? thats not safe…
exactly. what if it caught a bird or something? it would cut it apart.

I think this might have the bonus on standard wind turbines in that they don’t rotate much faster than the wind during operation. Thus they don’t kill bats/birds but could with their higher torque but lower speed generate just as much power. It’s also MUCH easier to machine a cylinder than a bloody aerofoil. 8D
how does the filter prevent the chemical breakdown of the oil at the molecular level?
This sounds like the story everybody’s uncle tells of his friend at Ford who invented the 150mpg carburetor.
why not have just a single tube?
